Massenet is my revival, completely redrawn, of Old Style Grotesque Condensed which I found in Specimens of Printing Type (Miller & Richard, Edinburgh, c. 1920). The book appears to be in the public domain. Massenet is a sans serif font that sports a nice combination of thick and thin strokes. I expanded the single font to three weights, SemiBold, Bold and ExtraBold. I believe it will your designs best in posters, advertisements, vintage modern (what a great oxymoron!) and card design.
Massenet exemplifies a few of the reasons Grotesques received this moniker. See the unusual N glyph with its upper right rectangle; the rather truncated G; and the awkward S.
Massenet supports Afrikaans, Albanian, Asu, Basque, Bemba, Bena, Bosnian, Catalan, Chiga, Colognian, Cornish, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Faroese, Filipino, Finnish, French, Friulian, Galician, Ganda, German, Gusii, Hungarian, Icelandic, Inari Sami, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Jola-Fonyi, Kabuverdianu, Kalenjin, Kinyarwanda, Latvian, Lithuanian, Low German, Lower Sorbian, Luo, Luxembourgish, Luyia, Machame, Makhuwa-Meetto, Makonde, Malagasy, Malay, Maltese, Manx, Morisyen, North Ndebele, Northern Sami, Norwegian, Bokmål, Norwegian Nynorsk, Nyankole, Oromo, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Romansh, Rombo, Rundi, Rwa, Samburu, Sango, Sangu, Scottish Gaelic, Sena, Shambala, Shona, Slovak, Slovenian, Soga, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Swiss German, Taita, Teso, Turkish, Turkmen, Upper Sorbian, Vunjo, Welsh, Western Frisian, Wolof, Zulu.
Several dozen discretionary ligatures are available.
I named Massenet after the 19th century French composer of operas and splashy orchestral music, Jules Massenet (1842-1912).
