Unigeo, designed by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini with the assistance of Francesco Canovaro, pays homage to the vintage computing design style. It embodies the obsession with geometric modularity, ultra-tight tracking, and striped rainbow aesthetics. Unigeo aims to offer a fresh perspective on the geometric sans genre by incorporating a vintage touch into selected letters. The typeface prioritizes a modular, constructed look while minimizing optical adjustments.
Similar to vintage gaming systems, Unigeo is available in different "memory versions": 32, 64, and 128. The primary family, Unigeo 64, is suitable for display and logo design applications. It boasts tight tracking and features iconic signature letterforms inspired by design and typefaces from the photo-lettering era. The Unigeo 32 variant replaces these letterforms with more contemporary shapes, resulting in a versatile geometric sans font optimized for text use. It can also be employed for logo design and display purposes, thanks to its extensive weight range. Lastly, the Unigeo 128 subfamily treats the same skeleton with a striped design reminiscent of optical art and modernist computer logos.
All Unigeo font families consist of eight weights, ranging from Thin to Extrabold, totaling 40 styles. Each style includes an extended character set that supports Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek languages. The fonts offer full OpenType features, such as positional numbers, ligatures, and alternate glyphs. Additionally, a variable font version is available for each subfamily.
